Accommodations

Participants should organize their own lodging and transportation. Note that May is busy in Boston (it is graduations season!) so we suggest that you make reservations early. Here are some budget-friendly suggestions:

Budget hotels:

Mid-price hotels:

Suggestions for finding accommodation:

  • Hotels are going to be expensive near the colleges (Northeastern/Emerson/BU/Emmanuel/etc.) so consider options on the orange line, either further into the city or away.
  • Many students find affordable accommodations via AirBnB. Nearby neighborhoods include Jamaica Plain, Longwood area, Fenway, Back Bay, South End, and Brookline. If you are looking for a more budget friendly neighborhoods, consider Mission Hill or Jamaica Plain.
  • Participants can also look for accommodation near subway Red Line, Blue Line or other Green lines, as long as it is easy to transfer to Orange Line or Green Line E.
  • Boston is one of the safest large cities in the United States. However, if safety is of heightened concern, consider accommodations generally north/west of the orange line.

Commuting to campus

  • Two MBTA subway lines stop on Northeastern campus: Orange Line via Ruggles Station, and Green Line E via Northeastern University Station.
  • Many bus lines stop at or very near Northeastern and provide fast and frequent service, including the 1 (Mass Ave), 15, 22, 23, 28, (Ruggles) and the 39 (Parker Ave/Northeastern University)
  • The MBTA now accepts contactless payments (Apple/Google Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, etc.) on all busses and subway lines.
  • Google maps provides accurate travel time estimates with public transit in Boston. We recommend taking public transit whenever possible.
  • There is 4-hour metered street parking on Parker Street and near the Museum of Fine Arts.
